I am an active duty Army Emergency Physician practicing in the state of Tennessee. Mifepristone complications are under reported due to mischaracterization of symptoms. This leads to an over reporting of spontaneous abortion and incomplete abortion. The risks to women and the public are significant as these women must seek care at Emergency Departments already overwhelmed by boarding and understaffing. Mifepristone is known to have a complication rate over 10%. These complications are often life threatening conditions that are increased by misuse of mifepristone in later term pregnancy. Amber Thurman died of a well known mifepristone complication. Telemedicine prescribed abortifacients will also lead to malfeasance by criminals like Christopher Cooprider who poisoned the mother of his child causing her to miscarriage. Telemedicine abortion is dangerous to the public and must be banned.
