As a member of the Arizona House of Representatives and the Make America Healthy Again caucus, I’m a strong supporter of policies that empower citizens to make medical decisions which are best for them.
The MAHA movement is focused on the root causes of diseases, including obesity. While GLP-1s have surged in popularity, that popularity is built on misdirected marketing. This advertising hides the risks of mass compounded GLP-1s – risks that have contributed to hundreds of hospitalizations.
FDA-approved GLP-1s, alongside diet changes and exercise, have proven to be a meaningful tool for patients managing obesity and related conditions. With the guidance from the Trump administration and Secretary Kennedy, costs related to these medications have come down significantly. That means fewer Americans are forced to seek out unregulated alternatives out of financial necessity or desperation. That progress deserves to be protected for the health of patients
I urge the FDA to finalize its proposed decision to exclude GLP-1 active pharmaceutical ingredients from the 503B bulk list. The American people deserve it and their health relies on it.
