Summary: An individual who struggles with weight and limited insurance coverage argues that compounded GLP-1 medications are a necessary and affordable alternative to expensive brand-name drugs. They urge the agency to continue allowing the purchase of these compounded medications to improve public health and accessibility.
Compounded weight loss medication “which comes from a pharmacy’ helps those of us who want to lose weight but do not have the funds to purchase the non compounded weight loss medication and most insurances are no longer willing to cover weight loss medication, As of this year 2026 my companies insurance no longer will cover for weight loss. So I have no other option then to go with a compounded weight loss medication. As a mother of 4 who’s father, husband and now 2 sons have served the US military, Human Care and Tricare also do not cover the weight loss medication without a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. I have been borderline for the last 10 years. I have had to have knee surgery due to my weight. Within the last year I have lost 40 pounds, which is just fine with me because slow wins the race, but with that being said. I have had no knee pain. I can walk up the stairs foot over foot, instead of 2 feet on each step. That Is a huge win for me, I also have not had to go to the doctors in the last year. America should be tired of being called the “fat” country and if there are some of us, who would like to lose weight to lower our cholesterol, blood pressure, knee pain, correct fatty liver then we should be able to purchase the compounded GLP1 that comes from a pharmacy and is reasonably priced. We should not be in the middle of Pharmacy battles, and we should not have to suffer, with underline health issues if there is something out there that can help. I would “NEVER” purchase test only GLP1’s but I know of some sights who do sell them, and if you think that they are only using them for testing, you are sadly mistaken. And more people will be putting their lives in risk just to lose weight. If you have never walked in an over weight person’s shoes, you will never understand. So please for those of us, who can’t afford the “name brand” GLP1’s allow us to be health and ‘HAPPY” (because honestly being overweight is miserable). Continue to allow us to purchase the compounded GlP1. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Sincerely an overweight person who just wants to be able to be healthy, happy, and around long enough to watch my grandchildren grow up to be young adults.
