As a physician who has used peptides safely and effectively in my clinic, I am appalled at the FDA's decision to shift many effective peptides to a Schedule II class. If the FDA could shed any evidence that the peptides now to be labeled schedule II drugs have caused harm in patients who receive the peptides under physician supervision through legitimate FDA-oversight pharmacies, you would have a case. I have not seen a serious side effect in my last 10 years of prescribing peptide therapies to my patients. I wish I could say that for the FDA-approved drugs I have used over the years. I have, however, seen many benefits appreciated by my patients.
This ruling will move patients to get peptides through the black market without physician oversight, which is a "buyer at risk" situation. This will do more harm than good. The opposite of what the FDA should be promoting. Shame on you, FDA.
