Navigating food allergies comes with the need to take extra precautions and additional steps in order to survive and thrive in our world. When flying I always have to remain extra aware of my surroundings especially since a plane is an enclosed space making it extra dangerous for individuals with airborne allergies. When boarding I always request to pre-board, have the flight attendants make an announcement of my food allergies, and ensure to always wipe down my seat and surroundings. Although I have never had an allergic reaction aboard an airplane, having life-saving medication would provide another layer of protection to help make my flight experience more enjoyable. Anaphylaxis is real and deadly and medication can save lives. Thus, through having emergency medication when aboard flights it helps turn a devastating story of loss into a successful story of survival.
