Summary: An individual with airborne food allergies supports the proposed policy to require additional epinephrine doses and flight attendant training. They argue that these measures are simple, necessary steps to ensure passenger safety and accessibility for those with life-threatening allergies.
As a person with airborne food allergies, knowing that additional doses of epinephrine were on a flight and basic training with flight attendants would make me feel much more safe and comfortable on a flight. I have gone into anaphylaxis before and my last reaction I was told my next accidental ingestion could kill me. I also break out into hives, have stomach pain, brain fog and sometimes swelling of my lips when just exposed to an open container/bag of tree nuts. This makes solo travel challenging, especially with dismissive flight attendants due to lack of education and care. This would be a very simple step for airlines to take to make a more accessible and pleasant, safe experience for passengers with anaphylactic allergies. Every minute, every second matters when it comes to getting your first dose of epinephrine at the onset of anaphylaxis. A simple step to save a life.
