Summary: A parent of a child with a nut allergy and a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician supports the requirement for airlines to carry epi-pens. The commenter argues that epi-pens are life-saving tools in anaphylactic emergencies and ensure the best possible outcome for patients until they can receive definitive care.
As a parent of a nut allergy son, I absolutely support the requirement that airlines be required to carry adult and junior epi-pens. In a true anaphylactic emergency the epi is the only way to save their life. As a 30 year Emergency Medical Technician working on a volunteer ambulance, epi is carried to administer in a true life threatening allergic emergency. Having administered it I know the impact the epi-pens have in these emergencies. Having the epi-pens in board all flights provides the patient the best outcome possible until definitive care can be provided. I 100% support requiring epi-pens on all airlines.
