Summary: The Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) is submitting a comment regarding a proposed FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) concerning 5G C-Band interference. They request that the rule include specific language and acceptance of previous FAA-approved methods to recognize certain Embraer aircraft configurations as "radio altimeter tolerant."
AD 2026-13-02 FAA-2025-3998 comments Docket No. FAA-2026-4659; Project Identifier MCAI-2025-00826-A,T. Para. (g) of the FAA AD rulemaking states “No actions are required by this AD for radio altimeter tolerant airplanes.” We request the rule include the statement found in the preamble which states, “An airplane that is a radio altimeter tolerant airplane using a method approved by the FAA for AD 2023-10-02 is also a radio altimeter tolerant airplane for the purposes of paragraph (g)(1) of this AD.” Para. (j)(3) provides approval for AMOCs approved previously for AD 2023-10-02. We further request the rule include acceptance of AD 2023-10-02 paragraph (g) FAA Approved Methods of Compliance for the identical paragraph (g) in AD 2026-13-02. Per FAA compliance document 732-23-00077, ERJ 170-200 (all series) aircraft equipped with Radio Altimeter Model KRA-405B P/N 066-01153-() and RFF-100 filter P/N 68013467-001, (in accordance with SB170-34-0057 Revision 1 or DCA 0170-034-00002-2022) are considered radio altimeter tolerant.
