Summary: An individual railroad worker expresses support for restricting drone operations near fixed site facilities. They argue that drones create safety distractions and security concerns for employees, suggesting they should be limited to specific inspection tasks like bridge maintenance.
These drones have become a major distraction to railroad workers. When the are use in rail yards and switching facilities like industry tracks and sidings, we don’t know if it is the railroad or a possible threat to our safety. With all the seen drone strikes on the news. It has created an issue of insecurity in the field. It also distracts the employee from safety sensitive work that they are trying to do. We have had a few incidences that have been questionable on how the railroads have been using the drones. Please take this opportunity to stop the use of these drones in the field on operating employees. They should only be use to do inspections on bridges and structures to keep maintenances employees safe from potentially dangerous situations. Thank you for your time on this matter.
