Summary: The commenter, a pilot with significant military flight experience, supports the rule change to allow military flight hours to count toward civilian flying careers. They argue that the rule is a necessary step to address the long-standing pilot shortage.
This rule change is long overdue. The fact that a person who has 1500 flight hours, 700 of those in combat, and over 200 hours of that being at the controls flying the plane, is not able to count any of that time toward a flying career in the civilian world is just plain nonsense. The pilot shortage has been talked about for the 51 years I have been alive. This rule change is the first real step taken in all that time to actually make a difference in the problem.
