Summary: The American Society of Media Photographers, acting in support of the News Media Coalition, supports the proposed rule for small unmanned aircraft systems as a step toward balancing safety and newsgathering. However, they argue that the rule should be modified to relax restrictions on beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights, nighttime operations, and flights over people, particularly for micro UAS.
