Dear EPA Administrator Zeldin, For the sake of our health, we, the undersigned, urge you not to weaken or delay limits on PFAS in our drinking water. An estimated 45% of the nation’s tap water contains one or more types of PFAS — a class of chemicals that have been linked to a host of health issues including cancer, reproductive harm, and developmental effects in children. The EPA has estimated that the national drinking water standards for six PFAS chemicals would prevent exposure for 100 million people. Now, the agency is proposing to repeal limits on four of those chemicals and delay the other two. Weakening protections for the water we drink would be a step in the wrong direction. The EPA’s mission is to protect human health and the environment. Rolling back safeguards against toxic "forever chemicals" would leave communities with less protection from contaminants that have been linked to serious health risks. Please prioritize the health and safety of the American people and maintain strong drinking water standards for PFAS.
