My name is Malik Smith, and I denounce this proposal to rescind compliance for PFOA and PFOS Maximum Contaminant Levels. This cancellation is environmentally negligent and damning to those living along the Ohio River Valley (West Virginia), Cape Fear River (North Carolina) and Deleware River (New Jersey) who have been exposed to these cancerous contaminants for decades. These companies and public works facilities such as the Chemours Company continue to prove their allegiance towards capitlist pursuits and corporate interests which nonethless disregarding the health the people and the overall environment they operate in. Coming from "Chemical Valley" it is well-known that our communities are polluted with PFAS and other chemicals such as Eto (Ethylene Oxide) which are envitably found in our bodies and other wildlife. I am fearful of the health of those who are in close proximity to these facilities and demand the EPA to upholds the National Drinking Water Standards for PFAS (including all six types of PFAS) and to not award an extension deadline to these companies and public works facilities who continue to not comply. As, someone who has always lived on the Ohio River Valley it is unfortunate my relationship with the water is weary and quite frankly mistrusting due to these companies and lack of governing to hold them accountable.
