Subject: Strong Opposition to Proposed PFAS Rescissions and Compliance Extensions
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the EPA’s proposed rules to rescind drinking water standards for certain PFAS chemicals and to extend the compliance deadlines for PFOA and PFOS. Clean, safe drinking water is a fundamental human right, and rolling back these critical protections jeopardizes the health of communities across the nation.
As a parent, this issue is deeply personal to me. I am the proud mother of three beautiful children. Every single day when I pour them a glass of water, I should be able to do so with the absolute certainty that what they are drinking will help them grow, not cause them harm. Knowing that these "forever chemicals" are linked to severe developmental impacts, immune system disruption, and long-term health risks fills me with immense worry for their daily well-being and future.
We cannot afford to delay compliance deadlines or reduce the number of regulated toxic substances. Extending deadlines to 2031 only allows these persistent toxins to build up further in our environment, our ecosystems, and our bodies. The choices we make today do not just affect us; they set the blueprint for the generations ahead. My children, and the generations that will follow them, deserve to inherit a world where the environment is fiercely protected and the water is safe to drink.
Please prioritize public health, the preservation of our natural environment, and the safety of our youth over industry convenience. I urge the EPA to withdraw these rollback proposals and strictly enforce the original, comprehensive timelines for all PFAS contaminants.
Thank you for your time and for considering the future of our families.
Sincerely,
Meg (mother of three beautiful souls that deserve non toxic drinking water now not later)
