Stop this madness! It is suicidal to our country for the EPA to forward with a rule to weaken wastewater pollution standards for the Steam Electric Power Generating Point Source Category.
Coal plants' discharge of harmful pollutants into our water has been scientifically linked to birth defects, cancer, and other health problems. Why are you ignoring this evidence ?!? The EPS's 2024 rule was an important step in reducing toxic wastewater pollution from coal-fired power plants.
Now, EPA's proposed rule would unleash toxins- allowing the coal industry a pass to contribute to harmful unmanaged combustion residual leachate wastewater. You are responsible if you allow this discharge of toxic pollutants, like arsenic and mercury, making their way into our drinking water and putting nearby communities already disproportionately affected by this harmful pollution at risk.
Do your job as a steward of the environment and human being - the EPA needs to withdraw this proposal.
