Summary: An individual is opposing the issuance of a pesticide experimental use permit for releasing modified mosquitoes in California. They argue that the experiment cannot be properly contained and poses unpredictable risks to public health and safety.
I don't see how this experiment can be contained. What happens if unintended consequences endanger lives? The results of this release have too many factors to control and monitor and could have wide ranging, unpredicted impact. Los Angeles County Health reports that "Severe complications [from mosquito bites] generally affect less than 1% of infected individuals." How does this warrant such widespread testing on an unsuspecting population? I do not consent to this experiment. Do not release these modified mosquitoes in California!
