Summary: Jason Brown of SiteOne Landscape Supply, the largest distributor of landscape supplies in North America, supports the registration of herbicides containing florpyrauxyfen-benzyl. He argues that these products offer effective weed management, environmental benefits, and resistance management for professional landscapers.
My name is Jason Brown, and I serve as the Senior Category Manager for herbicides at SiteOne Landscape Supply. SiteOne is the largest distributor of landscape supplies in North America, serving professional landscape, lawn care, and turf management professionals across the United States. In my role, I work closely with manufacturers and our professional customers to evaluate herbicide technologies that support effective turf and ornamental management on both residential and commercial properties. Our customers depend on access to innovative herbicide technologies that enable them to deliver effective results while minimizing risk to employees, clients, and the environment. For that reason, I am writing to respectfully encourage the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to render a decision on the pending registration applications for turf herbicide products containing florpyrauxyfen-benzyl (Rinskor active): GF-3565 T&O (proposed tradename CenterCourt Herbicide; florpyrauxyfen-benzyl + penoxsulam) and GF-4676 T&O (proposed tradename KurtainCall Herbicide; florpyrauxyfen-benzyl + fluroxypyr). These products represent an important advancement for turf and ornamental weed management. Professional landscape and lawn care operators regularly encounter difficult-to-control weeds such as dandelion, plantain, black medic, chickweed, and nutsedge across a wide range of properties. Importantly, Rinskor based herbicides have demonstrated strong performance against resistant plantain populations, which is an increasing challenge for our customers. Access to new modes of action that can control these weeds more effectively can help reduce the need for repeat applications and the overall herbicide load applied to treatment sites. In addition to its effectiveness, Rinskor offers important environmental advantages. The active ingredient breaks down quickly in the environment and provides a favorable profile compared to many existing turf weed control chemistries. From a practical standpoint, these products also offer ease of application, reduced risk to off-target plants, and an effective new tool for resistance management benefits that are highly valued by professional applicators and the customers they serve. Rinskor has already received significant recognition for its environmental and technological advancements. The U.S. EPA has designated it as a Reduced Risk pesticide and granted a residue tolerance exemption. It has also received the U.S. EPA/ACS Green Chemistry Challenge Award, special recognition from R&D 100 for corporate social responsibility, the National Association of Manufacturers Sustainability Leadership Award, and the ICIS Innovation Award for Best Sustainable Product. These recognitions underscore the value this technology can bring to the professional turf and ornamental industry. SiteOne Landscape Supply fully supports the EPA’s role in thoroughly evaluating pesticide registrations to ensure products meet high standards for safety and environmental stewardship. At the same time, timely decisions on technologies that have already demonstrated clear improvements over existing options are critical. Delays in the registration process limit the ability of our industry to adopt more effective and responsible innovations that benefit both professionals and the public. Thank you for your time and consideration. We respectfully encourage the Agency to complete its review and render a decision on the registration applications for GF-3565 T&O and GF-4676 T&O.
