Summary: An individual is opposing the proposed rule regarding coal combustion residuals, arguing that the changes will expose Americans to toxins that cause serious health issues like cancer and brain damage. The commenter emphasizes the government's responsibility to maintain strong coal ash regulations to protect public health.
I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed changes to the Environmental Protection Agency rule entitled “Hazardous and Solid Waste Management System: Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals From Electric Utilities; Legacy/CCRMU Amendments” (Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OLEM-2020-0107). The proposed rule will expose millions of Americans to proven toxins that cause irreparable damage to our bodies—we're talking cancer, brain damage—nothing you'd want going on in your own body. Why is the EPA ok with exposing other people? Again, it is our government's responsibility to keep Americans safe and healthy. Strong coal ash regulations are absolutely part of this responsibility.
