Please deny NRG this permit. There is no reason to continue to tolerate the toxins caused by coal power plants. Now, because there are cheaper and cleaner forms of energy, we can choose both our health and our economy. I live close enough to WA Parish coal power plant to be contaminated by those toxins. I live in Houston near the Medical Center. NRG used to be my retail electricity provider. But then I realized that NRG was stubborn about owning power plants that pollute. So I switched. From NRG's asset list, I realized the company only owned the merest token of clean energy. Now, several years later, I see that they have a bit more, but still only a token. NRG should redevelop WA Parish as a battery storage and solar installation or batteries and geothermal. The energy transition is getting faster. A technical breakthrough means solar just got about 50% more efficient. This will speed up the energy transition. I see that NRG has had stock losses recently. That is to be expected from a company that does not lead the energy transition.
