Summary: The commenter opposes the proposal, arguing that it prioritizes the needs of the tech industry and AI development over the preservation of irreplaceable water sources and ecosystems. They suggest that the environmental impact of AI is a primary reason for its unpopularity and that this action will increase public opposition.
Our water sources are irreplaceable, unlike anything that requires the use of data centers. We cannot live without water, we have and can continue to live without AI. It is ludicrous to sacrifice our precious ecosystems to please tech lobbies. This proposal is also comically ironic being that the main reason AI is so deeply unpopular is due to its environmental impact. This will only strengthen the cultural opposition to it, rendering these efforts completely fruitless.
