I support the implementation of Tier 4 standards on schedule in 2027. I oppose the delay in implementation of these standards.
As a retired Nurse Practitioner who worked primarily in underserved areas, I saw firsthand the effects of poor air quality on the lives of children and adults living with respiratory illnesses. Transportation emissions are a leading cause of poor air quality in our communities.
While the costs of the effects on quality of life are difficult to quantify, the costs of poorer school performance and lost work days due to exacerbation of respiratory illnesses are clear. The human costs outweigh the inconvenience costs to industry of implementing the standards on schedule.
