I oppose the destruction of the Fulbright Hays program and support its continued funding and administration. The Fulbright program has contributed to the success of many students and faculty, including essential language learning, travel, and support for research. This has significant trickle-down effects: each award winner has gone to teach and mentor students, and contributed to higher education, broadening minds as they go. I am Chair of a University Humanities Department and I have known many excellent academics who have benefitted from this program.
