It is incredibly short sighted to defund these programs. These programs cultivate expertise in other parts of the world. In this interconnected world such knowledge is crucial to living peacefully and prosperously together. People, like me, have relied on these programs to complete their studies and become educators and knowledgeable contributors to society.
