I am writing in strong support of the proposed waiver and extension of the project period with funding for the Native Hawaiian Education program under Title VI, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Ensuring structural and financial continuity for the 21 current program grantees is an essential obligation to Native Hawaiian communities. A lapse in funding would severely disrupt vital culture-based literacy, indigenous language immersion, and community-led youth programs. By extending these grants, the Department of Education respects indigenous self-determination in education and prevents the systemic harms of institutional disruption. I urge the Department to finalize this extension to support the academic, cultural, and community resilience of Native Hawaiian students.
