As an educational organization that works with couples to help them better understand their fertility and menstrual health patterns, we are thrilled that Restorative Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Awareness-based Methods (Natural Family Planning) approaches are being included as part of this proposal. Research consistently shows that these approaches are cost friendly and effective for supporting couples in their fertility planning goals. These particular approaches are also unique in their ability to help couples address the root causes of their fertility struggles, which when resolved, allows the couple to conceive naturally, which leads to better health outcomes for both mother and baby compared to the health risks associated with assisted reproductive technologies. Once the root causes are addressed, often the couple is able to conceive multiple times without needing additional treatments, which further highlights the financial benefit of these programs. When couples are hurting from the emotional burden of infertility, they deserve to be taken seriously. They also deserve to have their contributing health issues fully investigated and treated instead of being handed a diagnosis of "unexplained infertility" and shuffled down expensive treatment paths that override their natural processes. This is an injustice to couples. Infertile couples are ill, and they deserve to be treated so that their health can be restored. I hope that exclusions will also be included as part of this proposal, so that employers and organizations that are opposed to Artificial Reproductive Technologies such as IUI and IVF can still offer fertility benefits to their employees that do not force them to violate their moral or religious beliefs.
