If the Department of Transportation approves American Airlines' proposal to retain a significant percentage of the fare difference when a passenger purchases a first class seat and the airline involuntarily downgrades the passenger, requiring the passenger to sit in a lower class, it will be approving and accepting theft by the Airline, and subjecting the American people who find themselves in such circumstances to unwarranted loss at the hands of a major corporation. This is purely and simply an attempted money grab by American Airlines. There is no acceptable justification for this proposal, and there would be no acceptable justification for the Department of Transportation to approve and permit it.
