95% of any airline involuntarily downgrades are driven by corporate policies, either due to overselling or insufficient preventive maintenance. Airlines gamble by overselling and many times they profit from it. No problem. But if their gamble fails, the airline needs to be held financially responsible and ensure the innocent passenger gets stiffed. The right thing to do would be to compensate the passenger based on the fare differential on the day of BOOKING and a voucher for 40% off future travel
