This continues to reflect the overall and deeply disconcerting discrimination, discounting of, devaluing, and disregard of the disabled community's rights, accessibility needs, and the requirement of actually being treated fairly, with respect and dignity like anyone else. Our public and government agencies (and not just service agencies, and persons anywhere/everywhere) continue to be the most indifferent and ignorant to accessibility or special needs relative to individual citizens with disabilities that may necessitate or require being treated respectfully per the functional needs of the individual with a disability. This must change, and ADA, Accessibility, can't be and aren't just 'words'. They must mean something tangible, practicle, accessible and proactively promoted, supported, and protected as not just a matter of right, but of respect and dignity of all persons. Disabled persons, included. This requires more concerted efforts to UNDERSTAND, and afford opportunities for the disabled communities needs, interests and rights to be heard, listened to, believed and respectfully responded to. Despite the ADA protections, without true advocacy, enforcement or requirements to uphold the rights of the disabled who conitnue to encounter and face, if not also be victimized by unlawful profiling, unfair bias, unlawful discrimination of Disability, and misunderstanding of the requirements to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities, AND make processes, and engagement with the world and systems within it, more accessible for them to participate and engage in safely, Disability Discrimination continues and is actively still, a barrier for persons with Disabities, and a violation of our rights. - SG- Disabled American and ADA awareness advocate.
