Committee to Bridge the GapOpposeAdvocacy
Summary: The Committee to Bridge the Gap, a nuclear policy nonprofit, opposes the proposed rule, calling it morally reprehensible and illegal. They argue that the rule would lead to unacceptable pollution and harm the health of people and the environment, and they urge the DOE to withdraw it.
Committee to Bridge the Gap affirms, and incorporates by reference, comments 12, 15, and 17 on this docket from Nuclear Free Hawaii, the Center for Biological Diversity, and Savannah River Site Watch. We are a nuclear policy nonprofit that has long been a watchdog of DOE's polluting nuclear activities. Existing regulations at DOE were already far too lax and permissive, allowing unacceptable pollution. As other commenters have already expressed at length, this proposed rule is both morally reprehensible and highly illegal. If this rule goes forward, the health and well-being of the people and other lifeforms of this great nation will be the ones to bear the burden. We submit this significant adverse comment to urge DOE, in the strongest terms possible, to withdraw this proposed rule.
