My name is Robert Sepulveda, and I am a current public health student at San Diego State University with an interest in chronic disease prevention. I am in support of the proposed rule regarding the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation program and the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit program.
Prescription medication access is very important because individuals rely on these medications to help manage their chronic disease conditions and maintain their quality of life. Those living with diabetes or heart disease often require these medications long-term, and cost can become a barrier in getting access to these medications and being compliant with them long-term.
I support the implementation of this negotiation program because improving prescription affordability can help reduce the financial barrier to medication access for Medicare recipients. If patients are consistent with their medications, it can help prevent other complications and worsening of the condition. I encourage the Centers for Medicare Services to continue considering and prioritizing the needs of those affected by high prescription costs.
