Summary: The American Diabetes Association (ADA) provides mixed feedback on the proposed rule, strongly supporting the inclusion of the Diabetes EDAC measure while opposing the proposed changes to New Technology Add-on Payments (NTAPs) and transitional passthrough payments (TPTP). The ADA argues that the proposed NTAP/TPTP changes could create high barriers for hospitals to adopt new technologies, while they advocate for regulatory reforms to expand access to islet cell transplantation.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) wishes to provide comments in response to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) proposed rule.1 Our response is limited to those provisions that have a direct impact on the treatment of individuals with diabetes and pre-diabetes.
