Summary: The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) supports the proposed rule to enhance Prior Authorization (PA) APIs for drugs, require specific reasons for denials, and expand public reporting of PA metrics. They argue that these measures will improve transparency, reduce administrative burdens for clinicians, and mitigate delays in patient access to medically necessary therapies.
