All recent proposed revisions to BLM 6320: “BLM Manual 6320, Considering Lands with Wilderness Characteristics in Land Use Planning” are unacceptable because they unnecessarily weaken protections for wilderness areas, lands with wilderness characteristics, or recommended, proposed, and eligible wilderness areas.
Allowing roads, motorized vehicles, or logging are admitted into these places irreparably damages their wilderness character.
The Bureau of Land Management has given no sensible reason for reversing decades of protections that were approved many decades ago through extensive review with wilderness consultants and input from the public. The scientific basis of these protections is still sound basis, and they carry the clear weight of public approval.
I urge you to keep protecting our wild lands as they have been protected.
