Summary: An individual commenter opposes any revisions to BLM Manual 6320 that would weaken protections for wilderness areas. They advocate for increased conservation, reduced motorized vehicle use, and science-based management that prioritizes local residents and wildlife habitat over resource extraction.
•I oppose any revision to policies for consideration and management of wilderness on public lands that would weaken protections for Wilderness Areas, Wilderness Study Areas, Lands with Wilderness Characteristics, or recommended, proposed, and eligible wilderness. •I recommend that any revisions to the BLM’s Manual: Include less motorized vehicle use, more conservation of resources and more involvement of actual persons not corporations. Mandate the preservation of finite and irreplaceable wildlands Emphasize how wilderness preservation also conserves wildlife habitat, clean air, clean water and flora for allowing it to age and become old growth Require accurate information and science-based management not some uninvolved persons in the White House who does not use science, public involvement and only listens to resource extractors. Preserve the public’s role in wildlands management because people who live in these areas vote and have rights to maintain wildlands. I personally have spent decades helping to conserve, preserve, and restore these lands from extraction uses which did not pay for the consequences of bad land usage. I have camped, hunted, fished and traveled these lands and demand their preservation!!
