Revision of Regulations for Grazing Administration, Exclusive of Alaska Bureau of Land Management and Office of Hearings and Appeals, Interior. BLM-2026-0001,Ladies and Gentlemen:I oppose the revision of regulations for grazing administration as outlined in BLM-2026-0001 and its negative consequences for Tribal bison herds. As the proposal is written, it is unlikely that any Tribal government or Tribal citizen buffalo herd would ever be eligible for BLM grazing leases. The Republican control of this Nation ensures that no person who is not white is allowed a fair deal in this nation and this is especially true of the Native Americans.Bison are central to Native Tribes and communities. Bison have provided Tribes with a means of food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities while also affecting Great Plains Indians’ belief systems, ceremonies and way of life for thousands of years. Many Tribes relied heavily on the trade of buffalo hides to sustain Tribal economies. Tribes have a spiritual understanding of the role of bison in the lives of their communities. Those who hunted the once-numerous animals believed they gave themselves to ensure the survival of the Tribe. In exchange, members of the tribe followed protocols before, during, and after the hunt to guarantee the bison would return. These beliefs and practices remain in use by Tribal communities today.By instituting these new regulations, it will be demonstrated by this Bureau and its political master in the White House, that the Native Americans are once again to be put on a path to slow but guaranteed extermination. The buffalo is not just a food source for the Tribes that manage them but a religious symbol and partially a way of life. To exclude the American buffalo from grazing lands that are held in stewardship for ALL of America's people, is to continue to practice the discrimination that has been endemic for over 250 years.In closing, this proposed revision of regulations for grazing administration should not be implemented.
