I'm concerned that the proposed rules for grazing land excludes people from monitoring and alerting the BLM, Park Service, and FWS about degradation of rangeland and harm to native species. The harm would include impacts of cattle accessing streams and rivers , depleting water and increasing nutrient loads due to their wastes getting into steams. I have observed domestic animal waste floating in steams where I was hiking, for example.
Ranching is important, but our public lands belong to us all, not only ranchers. We all must be able to report issues of concern, as Americans we have equal ownership and equal rights of free speech
I would also like to have bison back on more of their range. Bison coexisted with predators on this continent for tens of thousands of years. Bison ranching could allow a healthier population of bear, mountain lion, and wolves to coexist on rangeland than more vulnerable domestic cattle.
Bison ranching could allow more game wildlife to coexist on public ranchland as well. Elk, pronghorn and deer evolved with bison and shared the range. Domestic cattle have an important role in our current food supply, but with hotter and drier rangeland, bison could play as n increased role in the future.
