Comment on FR Doc # 2026-09156

Summary: An individual veteran supports the proposed rule change because it prevents responsible long-term financial planning (like creating a trust) from resulting in an immediate loss of firearm ownership rights. The commenter argues that the clarification protects constitutional rights for those planning for the future.
I support this proposed rule change. I am a veteran and while I handle my own financial affairs, I have been encouraged by financial advisors to make late life plans as a contingency, such as a trust. I am reluctant to take such steps as a preventative future need due to the possibility of immediately being declared unfit to own firearms, which I regularly stiil do. This clarification will go a long ways towards ensuring that responsible planning doesn't revoke a constitutional right.
