Summary: A veteran supports the proposed rule to revise definitions regarding mental health and fiduciary assignments. The commenter argues that the VA has improperly used financial management issues to strip veterans of their Second Amendment rights and calls for the ATF to finalize the rule to restore those rights.
I strongly support this proposed rule. The abuse of the VA fiduciary assignment process to strip veterans of their Second Amendment rights is one of the most shameful firearms policy failures of recent decades. As a veteran I find it absolutely disgraceful that the VA can strip someone who served their country of there rights because they may have a financial hardship. Furthermore the questions the VA used to ascertain this data was absolutely disgusting. If a doctors asked if you handled your own finances but you didn't because your spouse did they could apply this to you as well. The GCA's mental health prohibitor requires an individualized dangerousness finding, not an administrative determination about financial management. I urge ATF to finalize this rule and restore rights to those wrongfully disarmed.
