The National Rifle Association, the nation’s oldest civil rights organization, represents millions of law-abiding gun owners across America.
We write to voice our support for ATF’s proposed rule that would allow for joint spousal registration of NFA firearms.
We agree with ATF that it is unnecessarily burdensome for spouses who desire to jointly register an NFA firearm to have to create a trust or legal entity to do so. We also agree with ATFs proposal to cabin joint registration to married spouses only, including those created by common law where the couple can provide verification.
The proposed rule solves a very real problem for owners of NFA items—how to comply with the NFA regulations while living as a married couple, as millions of law-abiding Americans do. The ASA and NRA are grateful that the ATF is working to make life easier for this community.
