Summary: The commenter supports the proposed joint registration for spouses because it would streamline the ownership and transfer process for NFA items. They share a personal anecdote about the legal and financial difficulties a surviving spouse faced when trying to dispose of a firearm without a trust.
I believe this proposed change would have positive effect in stream lining the process for spouses to jointly own NFA items and for a surviving spouse to dispose of the item or items upon the death of the other spouse. I personally knew a friend that owned as SBR at the time of his death. He had not wanted to do the hassle and expense of a trust so his widow was stuck with a gun she couldn't legally sell. It was worked out with a Judges order granting her rights of survivorship so she after much hassle and many weeks was able to accept an offer from a licensed dealer. It shouldn't be that hard to transfer a firearm just because the barrel is 6 ins too short.
