This rule undermines that mission, and ATF must withdraw it.As a gun violence survivor who lost my niece in the 2019 Dayton mass shooting, I know firsthand the devastation preventable gun violence leaves behind. This proposed rule is a slap in the face to my family and the thousands of families who have lost loved ones to gun violence. Our goal should be keeping guns out of the hands of people who fail background checks and enacting ERPO laws in every state - tools that protect communities and individuals in crisis.ATF Director Cekada has repeatedly called FFLs "our first line of defense in the fight against firearms trafficking." That defense requires face-to-face interaction. Licensed gun dealers catch straw purchases, spot unlicensed dealing, and recognize customers in crisis - precisely because they can see people in person.ATF's proposed rule would expand fully remote and online gun sales, stripping FFLs of that critical visibility. This "skip the line" approach puts more lives at risk.
This rule undermines that mission, and ATF must withdraw it.
