Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed rule allowing direct shipping of standard firearms to buyers' homes. They argue that the rule harms small local dealers who cannot compete with large online sellers and that in-person transactions are safer for identifying straw buyers.
Local gun shops keep communities safe by checking who buys a firearm in person. Please remove the new rule allowing direct shipping of standard guns to buyers' homes. Unlike current law for special items, which requires fingerprints and real government approval before a shipment, this new plan just uses video checks and a waiting period where no human has to say yes. It hurts small dealers who cannot compete with big online sellers on price. Local dealers spot straw buyers and provide safety help that you cannot get through a computer screen. Please strike the new direct-shipping provisions so our local shops can continue their vital work for the community.
