Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed direct-shipping rules for firearms, arguing that they will harm local gun dealers and reduce the effectiveness of face-to-face safety checks. They advocate for maintaining current requirements that favor local shop interactions over online sales.
My local gun shop keeps our town safer because the owner knows his customers and can spot a straw purchase that a computer never would. The ATF should strike the new direct-shipping rules from this proposal. Allowing standard guns to ship to someone’s door kills local dealers by shifting sales to big online stores. Unlike current NFA rules where the government must approve a background application, this new process just waits for a clock to run out. It ignores the value of a face-to-face check. Dealers protect our community in ways a video call cannot, and we should keep them in business. Please remove the GCA direct-shipping provisions from the final rule.
