The current in-person system works well, so why change it? Please remove the new rules allowing direct-to-door shipping for standard firearms. This plan kills small local shops by shifting traffic to giant online sellers who can outprice them. Buyers will lose out too, as they are forced to pay a seven-dollar fee for identity checks. ATF admits at 91 FR 25216, p. 25224, that they do not even know how this market will work or who will control those fees. Unlike the NFA process that requires real government approval, this new method lacks any person in charge. Please drop the parts of this rule that let standard guns ship directly.
