Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed action, citing concerns regarding the security of shipping firearms via mail services, the potential for straw purchases through online forms, and the risk of individuals violating state-specific firearm laws.
The sending of firearms through the US mail, FedEx, UPS, etc. is a terrible idea. Packages will be stolen, left unattended, and any items that are damaged/incorrect will still need to be returned via an FFL. The other issue is the person filling out an online 4473 form may not be the person actually purchasing the firearm, thereby allowing a straw purchase to happen. There are also multiple states that have restrictions on certain firearms, magazine capacities, and allowable pick-up times for firearms. Too many items will slip through the cracks, thereby making individuals ignorant of local laws becoming unknowing criminals.
