The Sportsman's ShopOpposeBusiness
Summary: A local gun shop owner opposes the rule because it favors large online retailers over small local dealers. The commenter argues that direct shipping undermines community safety and local business viability, and requests the removal of the direct shipping provision for standard firearms.
This rule will kill local gun shops. By letting big online retailers ship guns straight to doors, it takes away the sales and traffic that keep small, local dealers in business. A shop owner knows the people in their community and can spot red flags that a video call will miss. Even by your own math on page 25224 of the rule, this is a bad deal. You expect a seven-dollar fee for buyers and a tiny adoption rate, while the seven-day wait makes the whole process slower than just visiting a local store. Please remove the parts of this rule that allow direct shipping of standard firearms.
