When a buyer stands at the counter, a dealer uses real human judgment to spot straw purchases and suspicious behavior. This new rule letting companies ship standard guns straight to a front door ruins that vital check. Big online stores cannot replace the shop owner who knows his customers. Even with the seven-day wait and identity checks mentioned in 91 FR 25216, no one actually approves the sale. I do not oppose current NFA rules, but please strike the provisions allowing direct shipping of standard firearms from this final rule.
