Wiley's Gun ShopOpposeIndividual
Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed rules for non-over-the-counter firearms transactions, arguing that direct shipping favors large online sellers over small local gun shops. They express concern that digital checks cannot replace the "gut instinct" of local dealers and request the removal of direct-shipping rules from the proposal.
My local gun shop keeps our community safe by watching for straw buyers and red flags during in-person sales. This rule would kill small, local shops by letting big online sellers ship guns right to people's doors. A computer check or video call can never match the gut instinct of a dealer who knows his neighbors. While I do not mind the current system for NFA items—where the government must look at fingerprints and say yes—this new GCA plan offers no real oversight. Please strike the new direct-shipping rules from this proposal to protect the small dealers who actually keep us safe.
