Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed rule for direct-to-door firearm shipping, arguing that it will harm local gun shops and decrease neighborhood safety. They advocate for maintaining a focus on local, in-person sales and the existing NFA approval process.
The new rule for direct-to-door firearm shipping in docket ATF-2026-0266 must be removed. This plan will kill local gun shops. When giant online sellers take over the market, small dealers cannot stay open. Local shops provide important safety checks and community ties that websites cannot match. Unlike the existing NFA process where the government must actually approve a transfer, this new path just waits for a clock to run out. It forces buyers to pay a seven-dollar fee for a service that makes their neighborhoods less safe. Please strike the sections that allow standard firearms to be shipped directly to homes and keep the focus on local, in-person sales.
