I support the proposed rule removing the Youth Handgun Safety Act notice requirement for Federal Firearms Licensees. The current requirement mandating posted signage and written notices appears outdated and largely redundant in today’s environment. Federal firearms purchasers already complete extensive paperwork, undergo background checks where required, and are subject to numerous federal and state regulations during the purchase process. Removing this requirement would reduce unnecessary administrative burdens on licensed dealers without changing the underlying law itself. The Youth Handgun Safety Act would remain in effect, and individuals would still be subject to all applicable legal restrictions and penalties. This proposal reflects a reasonable modernization effort that streamlines regulatory compliance while preserving existing statutory protections. Regulatory requirements should serve a meaningful operational or public safety purpose, and this particular notice requirement no longer appears necessary given the amount of information already provided throughout the firearms transaction process. I encourage ATF to finalize the rule.
